A to Z Challenge - Day 30 - Zooey Deschanel

New Girl has got to be one of my favourite shows so I dedicate this last A to Z Challenge post to the quirky star herself - Miss Deschanel.

Check out the show if you haven't already. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

A to Z Challenge - Day 27 - Xenomorph

Not just any xenomorph, but a pleasant, cute, possibly homosexual xenomorph.

This little guy sports a pink body, pearly whites and spits flowers. Take that, Ridley Scott!

A to Z Challenge - Day 26 part 2 - Walrus

This post is as simple as the title.

I would be sad if this magnificent creature did not feature somewhere on this blog.

So I needed a part deux.

A to Z Challenge - Day 26 - Wigs and toupees advice

Wigs/toupees do not turn back time.

The sooner ageing, balding people realise this, the sooner I can stop seeing this visual massacre.

Perceptions and reality are not the same thing. Whilst you might think it is going to make you look like you did when you are 20, you are sadly very very mistaken.

Take heed, at least choose a shade close to your hair colour or that fits. Otherwise, it will just look like a cow pooped a mess on your head.

See, I can be helpful in my own little way. :)

A to Z Challenge - Day 25 - Vib Ribbon

This little game was simple, AWESOME. If you owned a Playstation 1 and not this game, shame on you! I have since lost my copy and have been tempted to buy another but damn that game is expensive now (for a game that is over 10 years old).

The concept was very simple: you guide the main character, Vibri, along a single line obstacle course. Whenever an obstacle is reached, you must press the corresponding button to allow Vibri to pass through it otherwise he will hit the obstacle and change into a rabbit, fail again and its a frog and then a worm and finally you die. This description makes it sound a little bit lame but actually, the cute character paired with the awesome music helps to create an example of how a simple game can be bags of fun!

A to Z Challenge - Day 24 - Ukulele woman

So as a little reward for completing my 10,000 word, final year dissertation, I decided to buy myself a ukulele!

                                                         HERE IT IS!!

Ok, this is a cartoon interpretation of me looking ridiculously happy with my new hobby.

                                                HERE THE REAL THING IS!

Again I look too happy and I can assure you that I am NOT NAKED in this picture. It very much looks like it. That would be a strange photo if I was!

I've learned quite a few chords already but I think I'm sending my fingers to an early arthritic grave because damn that thing is tiny!

Tunes I aim to learn:

  • Pokemon theme tune: Because this sounds awesome, always.
  • Over the rainbow - Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole: Why wouldn't you want to learn this?
  • Always - Blink 182: As my favourite band, I would love to do a ukulele cover of my favourite tune by them.
  • Tip toe through the tulips - Tiny Tim: I find this song hilarious and creepy at the same time but would be pretty cool to be able to play on the uke.

Under no circumstances will I ever play anything by George Formby. Sorry but NO!

A to Z Challenge - Day 23 - Really Stupid Tattoos

Again I have missed some days in this challenge (I really do suck at this!) but I will make up for the lost letters by talking about really stupid tattoos.

For some reason, people seem to have no concept that these things are for life. That is, unless you want them burned off your skin to a certain degree. It makes me question why people pick the things they do. Whim? Fashion? Lack of sense?

1. Tramp Stamp.

For those who do not know what a tramp stamp is, its a tattoo on a woman, located on the lower back. The term derives from the location of the tattoo being in what was once thought of as a sexually promiscuous area of the body. If you want the basic definition, they are a nonsensical squiggle used to sign post the ass area.

2. Name of partner.

Now, we live in a society where often a relationship ISN'T for life. Not to say that couples can't stay together. It happens of course but just not that often. I think people are absolutely stupid if they think that scribing the name of their partner of 2 weeks on their arm is a sign of love and devotion. Honestly, its like a woman answering the door to their partner whilst wearing a wedding dress. They'll leave you. You'll look stupid unless you quickly get into another relationship, have a child and name this child after the regrettable decision.

3. Facial Tattoo

Take a look at Mike Tyson for a start.. then the girl who, "fell asleep" during a procedure to get 3 stars on her face and ended up with over 50. This has never ever been a good idea. I don't get creeped out by the guy with the skull tattoo on his face. I think, what a ****. I don't understand the logic behind mutilation of the facial area with inky scribbles, maybe I'm missing out and should opt for, "Look at me, I made myself look ugly to be different" tattooed on my head. It would save me a lot of time deciding between hearts or flowers.

4. On the knuckles.

Its not gangster and you don't look tough. Yes Rihanna, I mean you

5. Eye tattoo.

By this I do not mean a picture of eyes tattooed onto the body. Whilst this alone is weird, I mean literally the tattooing of the eyeball. Yes, you read this right. People actually tattoo their eyeballs for whatever reason. Definitely the weirdest and most stupid kind of tattoo to have.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??

A to Z Challenge - Day 19 - Questions

Today I decided to share with you a few extra things about myself by answering a series of random questions! I will try to be a thorough as possible... :)

What is the best decision you ever made?
To accept a ride to a party from a guy I had talked to maybe twice? He turned out to be a pretty decent guy (and the current boyfriend of 4 years!)

The one thing I most regret not doing is
Knowing what my dream job was before it became too late. :( I thought I wanted to be this and that and realised, I just want to help animals. Now, I will have to figure out how to do it, the hard way!

What would you consider to be your dream job?
Veterinarian. As I mentioned, I would love to work with animals and to be a Vet would be the ultimate job. I'm just going to have to figure out how to come as close as possible without qualifications!!! Wish me luck!

I wish I was more assertive when it comes to
Group social situations. I just sit there and observe rather than be the centre of attention. Sometimes I think of something to say but then I can't be bothered. It's strange, I'm very lazy when it comes to speaking. I guess that means I wont say anything stupid though.

The top three things I like abut myself are
- I think before I speak. Some people just say the most stupid of things.

- I'm not "tan". I'd rather not look like a walking citrus fruit.
- I'm honest. I'm quite blunt, especially when angry. I love how people don't know how to react to it.

An area of my life that I am still working on is
My career. Finally leaving education gives me the freedom to spread my wings in the world of work. I have a feeling that I may have to settle on anything at the moment though seeing as unemployment has just risen in my area of the country. :(

The best vacation I ever took was to
Newquay. I instantly fell in love with the place and would very much love to live there. We went for the sake of the Boardmasters festival.

Who was with you on that vacation?
The boyfriend. It was lovely just being him and me. We did get stalked by a seagull though..

If you could go to any restaurant right now where would you go?
KFC. I've been craving the bad stuff for a while now. *NOM*

What would you order?
The Reggae reggae box meal. I've never had it and it looks yum.

Do you know what country/countries your ancestors came from?
America! My granddad came from Illinois which I think is pretty cool. There is also some Irish and German somewhere (I think!).
Would you rather live in a rural area, small town, or big city?
Big city! I like having things to do. I think that the rural thing would be neat when I'm older and want a relaxed life but for now, I'm a city girl.

What circumstances led you to live were you are now?
University. I had to move out to be closer as travelling in would have been too expensive for me. I chose this house at the last minute so ended up living with 5 random girls.

If you could get in the car right now with 3 days off, where would you go?
Lake District. Its not too far but far enough away to feel like I'm getting a break!

What do you think is the greatest invention ever?
Electricity. Or was that a discovery? I always get confused with that.. Ok, let's change this to, "the containment of electricity for personal use". Yeah, that'll do.

What do you think was the most life changing moment in history?
The dinosaurs being wiped out. This world could have been a whole different story had they not been killed off..

What are the top three things you hope to do before you die?
- Go to New Zealand.
- Climb a mountain.
- Hug a panda.

A to Z Challenge - Day 18 - Priorities and Pie

This is a sort of explanation-type post. I realise that I have missed now, quite a lot of posts in the A to Z challenge. I basically have had to prioritise university work at the moment. My final year dissertation is pretty important so as much as I wanted to do my blog, I really couldn't.  I have missed LMNO :( I will have to skip them.

So, my followers, I apologise for the lack of posts recently and will instead, present you with a sort of O and P combination..

OCTOPIE!

Ahh, it feels good to be back! :)

A to Z Challenge - Day 12 - Future Mrs King

I have never been a huge fan of the British Royal family, however, I don't think there is a person in the world who doesn't like Kate Middleton at the moment. She's young, beautiful and seems like she would make a wonderful Mrs King. This woman can do no wrong!

Oh actually, I can think of someone who wont like the thought of being second in the nation's hearts...

A to Z Challenge - Day 11 - Jolly Jupiter + Co.

Mercury - About as hot as a planet gets. Best buds with the mighty star and the envy of the other planets.

Venus - Wants to be earth but sadly lacks the atmospheric requirements. May take over the earth's position when we kill it.

Earth - Poor earth. Seen all kinds of abuse from poisoning to burns. He has been raped from all sides. Very depressed planet.

Mars - This ketchup coloured rock has certainly caught the attention of the Earth. He certainly knows how to pull the moves.

Jupiter - Big, happy, jolly. The santa of the solar system.

Saturn - This cool cat certainly loves being different from the others.

Uranus + Neptune - Rarely talked about and always getting mixed up. Uranus has had enough of the bottom jokes.

Pluto - Not only was he the runt of the solar system but he has now been rejected as a planet. Poor thing.

A to z Challenge - Day 10 - Who lives in an Igloo like this?

Who says every igloo has to look like this typical 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom icy abode?

See if you can guess the residents of these pimped out igloos...

A to Z Challenge - Day 9 - Hulk Hogan arriving in style

Hulk Hogan, helicopter... I'm a little worried about my mind sometimes. As I sit down to plan some posts for the A to Z Challenge, of all the H words in the world, THIS is what I come up with!? As with all my posts though, I just go with it. No matter how bizarre it sounds....

A to Z Challenge - Day 7 - GraphicsGale

As a huge fan of digital drawing, I use quite a few programs for my drawings (all of my blog doodles are done on plain ol' paint.net though).

One of my favourites is a great (and free) piece of software called GraphicsGale. This is PERFECT for those who want to dabble in pixel art or animations.

If you want to have a go yourself, I would say a great way to start is by using Pokemon as your models. Even if you are not fan of Pokemon or consider yourself "too old", they are cute and unusual creatures so they are fun to draw. This is exactly what I chose to do and it got me hooked!

Tepig

Snivy

Oshawott

It is very simple to use which makes easy for novices and it's a lot of fun to use. If you're like me though and aim for perfection, you could find yourself getting a little frustrated if you miscount the pixels or can't get the shape of something quite right.

This is definitely worth a try if you're considering getting into digital art or you just want something different to do today.

A to Z Challenge - Day 5 - Envelope Fetish

Envelope glue tastes good. That's a fact. I cringe when people fold the top bit in rather than licking it.... and then I get tempted to lick it myself. Seems like such a waste.

A to Z Challenge - Day 4 - Dimples

I'm a huge sucker for dimples. Cute cute cute. Have you heard of yawn rape? (awful name, yes) You basically dangerously stick your finger in someone's mouth when they yawn. I'm always tempted to do the same thing with dimples when a person smiles. :)

A to Z Challenge - Day 3 - Cats!

Ok, so this post is a little late! Whoops! *life huh?*

Anyone who knows me, knows I love CATS! I'm not a crazy cat lady, honest. This is a very sensible post, by my standards!!

My cat recently had kittens and they are driving me MENTAL. Got to love them though. I always get snappy happy when I'm around them. Here are a few (very poor quality) pictures....

Introducing: Molly and Corky. Cute but have interesting sleeping positions!

Molly is the pretty one. Her face gets sooo mucky when she feeds.

Corky is the nuisance. Bites everything and loves living on my laptop.

A to Z Challenge - Day 1 - Antibiotics Against Alcoholism.

And so begins the A to Z challenge!

During my boyfriend's battle with the gruesome "ear infection", I've had to put up with a lot. Green goo, shouted conversations and sticking to the pillow in the morning. During his SECOND course of antibiotics, I began to think about those little, innocent-looking pills. What if, they are actually just on a personal quest to reduce alcoholism? Think about it!! The one thing you are told not to do during your course of antibiotics is drink alcohol!

Not only will they sort out gunky ears or clogged up chests, they will ultimately save your livers!

Damn those hippy drugs.
